Loan requirements
What you need before you check your rate. The short version: be 18 or older, have a source of income, and hold a checking or savings account at a bank or credit union in your name. Prepaid cards and prepaid debit accounts are not accepted.
What every request needs
CashyLend is not a lender; each lender in our network applies its own underwriting rules. These basics, however, apply to every request we send, so please check them first. To prepare, see what credit score you need for a personal loan, how to improve your credit before a loan, and how to compare personal loan offers.
- You are at least 18 years old and live in the United States
- You have a regular source of income (employment, self-employment, retirement, or benefits)
- You hold a checking or savings account at a bank or credit union in your own name
- You can provide a valid email address and phone number
- The information you enter is accurate and current
Accepted and not accepted accounts
Lenders in our network deposit funds into, and collect payments from, the account you list. It must be a real deposit account at a bank or credit union, held in your name.
Accepted
- Checking account at a bank or credit union
- Savings account at a bank or credit union
- Online bank accounts with a routing and account number for a real deposit account
- Joint accounts, as long as your name is on the account
Not accepted
- Prepaid cards and prepaid debit accounts, for example NetSpend, Green Dot, Bluebird, Walmart MoneyCard, RushCard, ACE Elite, or Direct Express
- Payroll cards and government benefit cards
- Gift cards and reloadable store cards
- Accounts held in someone else's name
Why prepaid cards don't work
A prepaid card is not a deposit account in your name at a bank or credit union. Lenders use your account to confirm your identity and income, to send your funds, and to collect your scheduled payments by electronic transfer. Prepaid cards do not reliably support those steps, so lenders in our network cannot fund a loan to one. Our form asks for your account type and bank name, and a request that lists a prepaid card is not sent to lenders.
Only have a prepaid card? Open a checking account at a bank or credit union first. Many offer accounts with no monthly fee, and some can be opened online in minutes. Once the account is active, come back and check your rate using that account.
